Question: What's the difference between Wagner's Tours and Open Houses?
First, how they are similar. Both tours and open houses start in the auditorium with our principal along with a few key speakers. Both tours and evening tours have staff members and parent volunteers that can answer questions. After that, daytime tours and evening tours are different. See explanations below:
The tours start at 8:45 am in the auditorium. After hearing about Wagner Middle School by Wagner administration, families break into 4 pre-assigned tour groups. These groups tend to be very large and move quickly and silently so as not to disturb students in their classrooms. Visiting families do not have the opportunity to talk to or interact with students during the tours. However, visiting families do get to see students in their classroom environment as they pass along the hallway. Families also get a few minutes to experience our wonderful Senior Band, practice their newest musical ensemble.
Like tours, the open houses begin in the auditorium where families learn about Wagner from Wagner administration. After that, visiting families can go on a self-paced, self-guided tour. Families can visit all the classrooms on the first and second floors, and walk around the various facilities of the school. Unlike daytime tours, with open houses, parents can talk to our many student volunteers, who are located throughout the building and are excited to talk to the visitors about their experiences at Wagner. We also have key staff members and parent volunteers, available to talk about Wagner and/or answer your questions.
Both the daytime tours and evening tours, start the same way and get the same "overview" of the school. The real difference between the two is the time of day. Also, that one is a guided tour while the other is self-guided. Finally, for the open houses, parents have access to talking directly to students, parents, and staff.
